OSM (pronounced “awesome”) stands for Online Skills Mastery. The core course is designed to prepare CU Denver and CU Anschutz faculty for teaching with digital tools, with a focus on great digital pedagogy. The teaching strategies learned and practiced in OSM apply not just to online courses, but to any kind of course.

In addition to the core course, a series of self-paced “Power Hour” electives are available for faculty to refine their skills and dive deeper into individual topics covered in the core course. Participants are awarded a digital badge for completion of each course. This project is growing, so stay tuned. These courses are currently only open to CU Denver and CU Anschutz faculty and staff.

Join CU Online in a new approach to professional development: Mastery Paths. A mastery path is a suite of trainings and workshops centered around a single theme related to online teaching and learning. Trainings and workshops in a single path are offered in various modalities, making it convenient for you to join us!

The benefits of completing a Mastery Path through CU Online are:

  • You will gain a new and relevant skill set for teaching online
  • You will earn a completion certificate

We recently debuted a Mastery Path entitled “Media Development for Online and Blended Courses.” This path gave instructors an opportunity to learn more about how to engage and educate students using different forms of digital media.

The Media Development for Online and Blended Courses path consists of:

  • Media in the Online Classroom (Webinar)
  • Using and Editing Images for the Online Classroom (Workshop)
  • Techsmith Relay Training (Workshop)
  • Copyright Basics (Self-Paced, Online ‘Power Hour’)
  • Creating Student Projects with Media (Workshop)
  • Creation Station Consultation (One-on-One Consultation)
