Registering for an Online Class

Waitlist and Drop FAQ's

Q. How do I sign up for an online class?

A. If you are already applied to the university, you may register for online courses directly through the Smart System. If you are not a CU Denver student, you may apply as either a degree or non-degree seeking student through the university's main site.

Q. How can I find out if an online class is still open?

A. When registering for a class, the database system will indicate if the course is full or not. If the course is full, students will have the option to add themselves to the waitlist. Students may also obtain course status after logging in to university's main site, by clicking on the registration tab.

Q. How do I find the call numbers for online classes?

A. Call numbers may be obtained through the course schedule planner.

Q. Why won't the listed call number work when I try to register?

A. If the listed call number isn't accepted in the registration process, students may contact CU Online via email or at 303-315-3700.

Q. The system won't let me register, what's wrong?

A. Students experiencing difficulties in registration may have a financial stop or another type of stop with their personal record. Students may obtain information regarding their stop from the Records office at 303-315-3700.

Q. After I've registered, how do I log-in to class?

A. Students registered for online courses may log-in through CU Online's homepage the first day of classes.

Q. How soon can I log-in to class?

A. Once the semester has begun, students may log-in to their online courses. During the semester, students may log-in at any time, 24 hours a day.

Q. How does the waitlist work?

A. Students have viewing access of each online course they are waitlisted for. Although waitlisted students may not actively participate in the course, it is possible to view the assignments. Alternate methods of turning in the homework assignments may be arranged with the respective instructor.

Q. How do I drop a late-start class?
A.
Students have 2 days from class start date to drop late-start classes. For more information call CU Online at 303-315-3700.
