Online education today is a world of words broken by an occasional graphic, sound or animation. Tomorrow learning online will take place in fantastic, rich 3D worlds that allow students and faculty to interact in ways unimaginable using current online and classroom environments.

This presentation, at the annual University of Colorado Training with Technology conference, demonstrated the possibilities of teaching in a fully developed, 3D online world. Utilizing Second Life, a commercial 3D world, the presentation took the audience through a tour of the kinds of teaching possible in a digital place where “players” create the content. Touching on topics such as theater, sociology, history, astronomy, modern language, and visual arts, this presentation gives you a taste of online education in the days to come.
