The CU Denver Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) prepares nurses for the highest level of professional practice. As a graduate, you'll be prepared with knowledge and leadership skills needed to improve health and health care by linking clinical practice to theory and evidence.

Why This DNP Program?
In the Fall of 2005, the University of Colorado Denver, College of Nursing became the first school in the Rocky Mountain region to initiate the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree. The University of Colorado’s DNP program has approval from the Board of Regents and the Colorado Commission on Higher Education (CCHE), and the DNP program is also accredited by CCNE.
The DNP program is a competency-based curriculum with courses available in a distance accessible format including online and in-class intensives.
Permanent residence within one of the following 14 Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE) Western Regional Graduate Program (WRGP) allows you to be eligible for in-state tuition through WICHE/WRGP. Participating states include: AK,AZ, CO, HI, ID, MT, NV, NM, ND, OR, SD, UT, WA, WY.
Program Requirements
If you have an MS degree in nursing with an advanced practice specialty you can complete the DNP with a total of 41 credits in two to three years.
To be awarded the DNP degree, you are required to successfully complete the following requirements:
- The specific program plan for the DNP coursework (currently 41 credits).
- A DNP capstone clinical evaluation project which focuses on advanced practice nursing and applied health outcomes evaluation.
