Why CU Online?

The decision to earn a degree is a smart one, especially in a time of transition. It's been estimated that 85% of adult learners listed career transition as the number one reason for getting their education.

Whether it's to change careers, advance in a current position, or simply stay up-to-date, education is usually the key to success. But finding the needed time for education - that's the rub. Enter the freedom of online.

What is CU Online?

CU Online is simply another course option of the University of Colorado Denver, and one of the first fully accredited online programs in the country. Basically it's the brick and mortar institution of UCD - delivered to you.

With CU Online, you'll enjoy:

  • The same UCD professors who teach on campus
  • The same UCD traditional 15 week semester (Fall, Spring, Summer)
  • The same UCD quality courses and credit
  • The same UCD degree and prestige
The difference is that it's on your time. On your terms. CU Online has been serving UCD students since 1996, and is accredited through North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

How Do Online Classes Work?

Each course is developed to offer everything you would expect from UCD. But you’ll learn in a format designed specifically for online delivery. So what does that mean?

  • Depending on your professor, your online courses usually include: lectures, videos, slide shows, discussion boards, etc.
  • You submit regular assignments like projects, papers and discussions online
  • Exams are either online, in class or proctored at another location
  • Participation varies due to the professor and the course content
  • There's a $100 course fee to cover the 24-7 technical support

"What about the classes that 'don’t work' online?"

Not all courses fit the dynamic freedom and flexibility that online courses offer – so we don’t force them. We only offer online courses that do (nearly half of the courses offered are considered core curriculum). Which means that our online programs and courses have all been examined and evaluated before being offered to you.
