DAC Tuition

Tuition for courses in the 3D Graphics and Animation Program is structured differently from other courses at the University of Colorado Denver, Downtown Denver Campus.

All University Liberal Arts Core Courses and Fine Arts Foundation Core Courses are charged at the normal prevailing tuition rate for undergraduate studies at the University of Colorado Denver, Downtown Denver Campus. The tuition for all 3D Graphics and Animation Core specific courses are set at an alternative higher rate which parallels the prevailing rate for training in this technology and software.

The DAC “Extended Studies” tuition structure has two tiers. Tier 1, set to allow students to experience the animation curriculum without having to spend the Tier 2 DAC tuition rate, is $1533 per 3-credit course. We offer the first two courses, FINE1810 and FINE1820, at the Tier 1 rate, $1533 per course. This allows you to make sure the program is a good fit first. All the remaining courses, 11 total, are at the "Tier 2" rate of $4050 each. All other courses at the university are at the standard tuition rate set by the University. The cost of the DAC courses is the same for both in-state and out-of-state students. All DAC tuition program (with the exception of an 18% service charge paid by the DAC to the University) goes directly into supporting the very expensive DAC program and labs.

The total tuition for a 4-year degree from the 3D/Animation BFA program is approximately $48,000 in addition to the standard UCD tuition. This figure includes tuition costs alone and does not include student housing, books, computer materials, instructional materials required per course or other student fees as required by the University.
